The GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS title for the Largest Negroni cocktail is about to be set. Sheldon Wiley, director of beverage for The Maggiore Group, will be making the classic cocktail inside a 500 liter oak barrel using equal parts of three premium Italian spirit brands: Carpano Antica Formula, Malfy Gin Originale and Campari. That is approximately 132 gallons, 504 bottles and 16,722 ounces of Negroni. The event will take place on Wednesday, October 24, from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. at The Sicilian Butcher.
A GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS Adjudicator will be on hand to witness Wiley fill the oak barrel with 14 cases each of Carpano, Gin Originale and Campari. Wiley also holds two other GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS titles.
“This GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS title has never been attempted before and we have a lot of moving parts to make this happen,” said The Sicilian Butcher Owner, Joey Maggiore. “It’s not every day that a GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS title is set so this is a big deal here in Phoenix and at The Sicilian Butcher.”
Once the drink is made, guests will have the chance to purchase a Negroni tapped straight from the barrel for $5 each. A portion of the proceeds from each drink sold will go to the Pearce Family Foundation.
