The Hermosa Inn: Combine a tranquil setting, award-winning Lon's with its cozy ambiance and stunning patio, and the historic Last Drop Bar helmed by Travis Nass, who was recently inducted into the Arizona Hall of Fame as 2015 Beverage Master of the Year, and you have a winning combination. I've stayed at the Hermosa Inn twice, and try to visit Lon's and Last Drop as often as I can. Our most recent visit was for some of Travis' excellent cocktails after a USBG Bar Academy on agave spirits.

The Four Seasons Scottsdale at Troon North is one of my favorite staycation destinations for many reasons, including a gorgeous setting with views of Pinnacle Peak and impeccable service with a gracious staff. While there are wonderful amenities such as poolside cabanas with tropical cocktails, activities (golf, tennis, hiking), experiences (Cowboy for a Day, Chef for a Day), and a spa, we spend most of our time relaxing in our room on the balcony admiring the view, lunching poolside at Saguaro Blossom, enjoying a sunset cocktail and appetizers on the terrace at Onyx, dining on the picturesque patio at Proof, or treating ourselves to Chef Mel Mecinas' irresistible menu at Talavera.
I love to take advantage of our Arizona summer specials, especially if they involve a favorite resort and spa such as The Fairmont Scottsdale Princess and its beautiful Well & Being Spa (formerly Willow Stream). That's exactly what I did one summer afternoon with one of my best friends visiting from Boston. We checked in early to the spa and started with a complimentary smoothie as part of a Travelzoo spa package, followed by a leisurely lunch at the private rooftop pool and a relaxing massage and facial. We also booked an appointment at the salon to have our hair done, stopped for margaritas at La Hacienda, and finished with Happy Hour and dinner at Bourbon Steak - a perfectly luxurious day.
