Summer Staycation Specials at the Hermosa Inn
A secluded desert sanctuary set on 6 acres, The Hermosa Inn began its colorful history as cowboy artist Alonzo “Lon” Megargee’s one-room studio in the 1920s. Expanding the original footprint into a hacienda and guest ranch, he named it Casa Hermosa, or "beautiful house," a description that still holds true today. As this boutique resort property has evolved (you can read my Experience Scottsdale feature, The Hermosa Inn Enhances its Legacy, here), the allure of the original Spanish architecture and Southwestern charm has been beautifully maintained, making The Hermosa Inn one of Arizona's most beloved destinations.
Here in Arizona, as the temperatures rise, so do our opportunities to take advantage of summer restaurant and lodging specials.Through September, you'll find Hermosa Inn travel specials such as Summer in Paradise packages, exclusive menu offers, extended Happy Hours, and more. Last month, we spent a relaxing weekend at this AAA Four-Diamond hotel and its gorgeous Paradise Valley setting. Here are seven ways to summer at The Hermosa Inn.
Check in to one of 43 guest rooms and casitas. A Summer Getaway package offers overnight accommodations in guest rooms starting at $169 a night which includes two drink tickets, a $25 F&B credit, and early check-in and room upgrade (based on availability). My personal favorites are the spacious Deluxe Casitas with their own private patios. Each luxurious casita features a king size bed, custom mesquite furniture, louvered skylight, a seating area with cushy leather wingback chairs and a beehive fireplace, and a bathroom with walk-in shower and clawfoot tub.
Reserve a pool cabana. I love the relaxing atmosphere of the pool at The Hermosa Inn, tucked away and surrounded by palm trees and cozy cabanas for two.
Cabanas are available from 8:00 a.m. to sunset for $75 a day, which includes a bucket of Arizona canned beers with guacamole, chips and salsa, or a carafe of red or white sangria served with a cheese platter.
Order a Crushed Cocktail. These signature poolside libations are cleverly served in a pouch with crushed ice, perfect for sipping while lounging in the pool. My favorite is the Parisian Rosé, a refreshing blend of rosé wine, pomegranate syrup, fresh lemon juice, and maraschino liqueur made from Marasca cherries.
Enjoy Happy Hour at Lon's Last Drop. Through Labor Day, LON’s Last Drop happy hour has been extended from 4 p.m. to close.
Look for discounted pricing on draft wine, cocktail, beer, tacos and sliders, and half-price bar snacks including marinated olives, sweet and spicy nuts, roasted jalapeño hummus and house-made pita, seasonable pickled vegetables, or marinated goat cheese curds.
Order the Carafe and Cellar. Perfect for sharing, this cheese and charcuterie board (with cured meats ‘from the cellar') is paired with a carafe of wine on tap (I suggest one of our local Arizona wines) for $28.
Dine in the Wine Cellar. A sought-after private dining venue throughout the year, the Wine Cellar is now open to guests Thursday through Sunday evenings through September 16. Reservations are required for a special tasting menu at $65++ paired with wine for an additional $35.
If you follow my Instagram or have read previous features on this site (spring menu recap here), you'll know that I'm a huge fan of Executive Chef Jeremy Pacheco and his culinary team at Lon's, the resort's restaurant. Here are some delicious highlights from our recent custom tasting menu.
You can also choose the $49 Taste of Summer prix-fixe menu with a rotating selection of an appetizer, entree, and dessert. The current menu can be found here.
Brunch. Brunch is offered both Saturday and Sunday. During the summer Hacienda Brunch for Two at $32 per person features a shared starter, a cocktail each, and a choice of two entrees or salads. The sizzling house-cured bacon with maple syrup gastrique is a must-order (video below):
New to the brunch cocktail menu are a refreshing selection of Margs, ‘Mosas, Mules and Marys.
