RUBEE TUESDAY: Mochilero, Osteria Mia, Pigtails, SafeFood TLC, Lom Wong, Tarbell’s, Peoria Artisan Brewery, CRUjiente, JJ's Bread and Butter Food Truck, Sonoran Pasta, The Americano
A semi-regular feature, I publish Rubee Tuesday on Tuesdays as a photo recap of my recent drinking and dining adventures in the Phoenix area.
Mochilero Kitchen, Glendale: This new Mexican restaurant celebrated their virtual grand opening on April 8. I picked up the crispy potato taco, short rib chile negro taco, and a cucumber-melon margarita.
Osteria Mia at Norterra in NW Phoenix opened the last week of April and we’re so happy to have such a great Italian restaurant ten minutes from the house serving homemade pastas and wood-fired pizzas. We took home Lupara pasta with Calarian chile, Grilled Romaine Caesar, and Il Capo pizza.
Pigtails Desert Ridge for another cocktail delivery!
Lom Wong, Thai pop-up: I took advantage of a special delivery where the cost was a donation for the Moklen people of Thailand affected by COVID: Beef Khao Soi curry with homemade noodles. Sign up for their newsletter for the next special!
Safe Food TLC curbside pick-up and delivery has reverted back to its original Tom and Lin Catering operations, so these are photos of our last meals, along with meals I hadn’t posted in my earlier Rubee Tuesdays. We’ll miss these delicious deliveries!
Shepherd’s pie, roasted Brussels sprouts, smoked chicken wings, Asian cabbage wraps and chicken shawarma.
From their Mother’s Day special menu: Roast sirloin, roasted potatoes and asparagus.
Spinach salad with blue cheese, pickled pears and balsamic vinaigrette, and three-berry crumble.
Tarbell’s, Phoenix: We celebrated a special occasion with Petrossian royal osetra caviar picked up at Tarbell’s (I paired with tater tots, creme fraiche, and green onions).
Peoria Artisan Brewery, Peoria: For a special virtual Zoom party with Mezcal Carreno on Cinco de Mayo, we picked up a delicious barbacoa short rib taco platter and elote.
CRUjiente, Phoenix: Love these new menu items on their to-go menu: Green chile burrito with Frites Street fries, and pork belly torta.
JJ's Bread and Butter Food Truck, NW Phoenix: I had to stop when we spied this new-to-me food truck on Happy Valley Road. Scallop plate with choice of two sides (I ordered jalapeno poppers and potato salad) and fish and shrimp tacos. Follow their Instagram for latest news.
For my latest Sonoran Pasta delivery, I stocked up on Hood Burger Boys dan dan sauce, more reginetti pasta, and White Sonoran flour.
The Americano, Scottsdale: This was one of the restaurants I’ve been missing the most, and I was so excited to receive this special dinner hand-delivered by The Americano team: Caesar salad with colatura dressing, pecorino and garlic crumble; garganelle verde with summer pesto and Castelvetrano olives; balsamic-glazed, woodfire-roasted chicken with crispy potatoes and parmesan; and cocktails (Negronis and Artiglio Biancos). And they just re-opened for in-restaurant dining, so my next Rubee Tuesday will recap dining-in.
