LDV Winery Announces Four New Wine Releases
Arizona-Grown Varietals Available in Limited Quantities
SCOTTSDALE, Ariz (Feb. 14, 2023) — LDV Winery, with its vineyard and estate in the Chiricahua Mountains of southeastern Arizona and the Tasting Room at 7134 E. Stetson Dr., # B110 in Old Town, has announced the release of four new varietals.
“We are thrilled to debut these new wines, which will be available soon and in the next package for our wine club members,” says Peggy Fiandaca, who co-owns LDV winery with winemaker Curt Dunham. “We look forward to sharing these new varietals with wine enthusiasts and we hope you all love them.”
The new varietals are as follows:
2017 Syrah — Soon to be bottled, this 100% Syrah offers typical black and blue fruit characteristics and soft tannins with a creamy mouthfeel. Aged 75 months in a combination of French and American oak barrels, this wine was not fined or filtered.
2019 Rhyolite White — A blend of Viognier aged in French, American and Hungarian oak for 32 months, the 2019 Rhyolite White honors the fact that LDV Winery’s vineyard soil is enriched with fine-grained volcanic rocks called “rhyolite” that are sun-kissed purple with encased sparkling quartz and crystals. An elegant white wine with a light floral nose and hints of butterscotch, vanilla and grilled pineapple, it is a perfect aperitif to enjoy as the sun sets over the horizon or with light pasta dishes, fish, poultry or seafood. LDV Winery is awaiting federal label approval for this varietal.
2019 Sky Island Viognier — Recently bottled and labeled, this 100% Viognier is produced in stainless steel tanks to preserve the unique fruit characteristics of the Chiricahua Mountain-grown fruit. The wine offers citrus, apricot and mineral notes with a clean finish and pleasing acidity. It can be enjoyed as an aperitif as well as with salads, poultry and seafood or spicy Asian and Indian dishes.
2020 Rosé of Grenache — Next up for bottling, this wine is made from 100% Grenache fruit produced in stainless steel to preserve the intensely fresh fruit aromas and flavors. Fiandaca suggests serving it chilled on a warm afternoon with prosciutto-wrapped melon or grilled fish. This wine was filtered but not fined.
“We held back most of 2017 red wines for long barrel aging. These wines are big, bold and lush,” says Fiandaca. “We are in the process of completing their final racking and we will be determining the variety of reserve wines we will be producing. Stay tuned!”
