Carlson Creek Vineyard Scores Gold & Bronze Medals at 35th Annual San Francisco International Wine Competition
Congratulations to Carlson Creek Vineyard of Willcox, Arizona!
Press release:
Adding even more accolades to their wine portfolio, Arizona-based Carlson Creek Vineyard, was recently awarded a gold and two bronze medals for their locally grown wines at the 35th Annual San Francisco International Wine Competition. Held June 12-14 at the Hotel Nikko in San Francisco, Carlson Creek Vineyard was among over 4,900 entries submitted from over 1,400 wineries in 29 states and 26 different countries.
The only sweet wine in the Carlson Creek catalogue - named after the family’s grandmother who enjoyed a sweeter style of wine - the 2012 Sweet Adeline Riesling ($19), received a gold medal and 89 points. With a fragrant, floral nose, this wine offers notes of honeysuckle and herbs with a tart apple finish. It pairs well with a baked brie, dessert or a traditional Thanksgiving feast.
Both the 2012 Rule of Three ($25) - a red blend of Grenache, Syrah and Mourvedre - and the vineyard’s 2012 Sangiovese scored bronze medals ($23). The 2012 Rule of Three is a Chateauneuf de Pape-inspired blend (57% Grenache, 28% Syrah and 15% Mourvedre) with hints of pomegranate, tart plum and rose oil; an elegant wine that only gets better with age, while the 2012 Sangiovese is a bold, dry take on one of the world’s oldest styles of wine, featuring berry notes with hints of honeycomb and spice.
