Bitter & Twisted Cocktail Parlour Serves Up Its Third Annual Book o' Cocktails On May 3
Cool off this summer with an all-new Book o' Cocktails drink menu at the award-winning Bitter & Twisted Cocktail Parlour in the heart of historic Downtown Phoenix. Premiering to the public on Tuesday, May 3 (with exclusive sneak previews available starting on April 26), this third annual edition is overflowing with custom cocktail creations and inventive twists on old favorites.
Hand-written by Bitter & Twisted's Principal Barmen & Proprietor, Ross Simon (winner of the 2015 Foodist Award's Master Mixologist honor, 2015 Ripe Award for Mixologist and Spirits Professional, 2016 Arizona Culinary Hall of Fame Mixologist of the Year), this colorfully illustrated 24-page tome also boasts a retro arcade vibe thanks to 8-bit-inspired, video game artwork by illustrator, Matt Andrews. "Just as last year's edition was a tip of the hat to vintage sci-fi, we wanted to carry on our love of retro pop culture," Simon says. "So this year's Book o' Cocktails is a salute to old-fashioned video games and a throwback to 8-bit technology."
Of course, the 2016 B&T Book o' Cocktails is more than just a pretty face, it's brimming with all-new menu sections and 21 innovative new cocktail creations, including an entire page devoted to the Negroni cocktail. Aside from classic and upgraded versions of this timeless Italian sipper, you can also try one sous vide-infused with Earl Grey, jasmine, rose or chamomile tea. "It's like a high tech version of barrel aging," Simon says of his new sous vide cooking technique, "that really imparts the natural organic ingredients and creates a wonderfully different expression of this classic cocktail."
Also new for 2016, B&T has added a new section called "Let Them Drink Punch," including the signature two-person Duck Bath Punch, now part of the regular menu. Plus enjoy a seasonal Jefferson Clarified Milk Punch, a modern twist on the traditional party punch and clarified, which strips out the white hues, "leaving behind this wonderfully round, incredibly creamy essence," Simon says. Additionally, guests can now flip directly to the back page to find the "Top 10 List" of bestselling cocktails, or dive deep into the B&T "Hall of Fame" featuring a selection of well-loved and tasty house drinks.
Returning sections include "Let's Get Cooking," featuring brand new cocktails made with farm-fresh, house-made ingredients such as syrups, bitters and liquors; "Mixing Under the Influence," which features returning signature B&T cocktails. Plus, sip & savor returning cocktail categories such as "Martini and his Bitches," "Non-Alcoholic" options and "Market Price," a daily happy hour-like selection of three classic cocktails (Collins, Margarita, Mojito) all ready to be gussied up to order with today's fresh-picked local fruits.
But fear not Bitter & Twisted fans, there are also plenty of returning favorites from the first two Book o' Cocktails, such as the Lime and the Coconut, and the Flawless Martini, the country's coldest bottle blended martini in existence. In fact, some of these cocktail favorites have made their way beyond the Arizona borders, having received many national and local awards and recognitions since debuting one year ago this month, including a four-star review in the Arizona Republic by critic Howard Seftel, and write-ups ranging from Details Magazine and Food & Wine, to Eater.com, ABCNews.com, Thrillist and the Huffington Post. So swing by today and #DrinkBetter with the new Book o' Cocktails at Bitter & Twisted.
