Province Urban Kitchen Completes Renovation and Welcomes Executive Chef Marco Garcia
PROVINCE URBAN KITCHEN AND BAR COMPLETED $200,000 RENOVATION
Changes to the Westin Hotel Restaurant Come as New Chef and Menus are Introduced
PHOENIX – (Aug. 18, 2016) Province Urban Kitchen and Bar is reinvented. The signature restaurant of The Westin Phoenix Downtown has completed a $200,000 renovation, completely transforming it. From carpet to light fixtures, nearly every element of the restaurant was changed. Those changes reflect a larger shift for the restaurant as in recent months it has welcomed a new chef and introduced new menus.
“Our goal with the renovations to Province Urban Kitchen and Bar was to give it an urban look and feel befitting its centralized, downtown Phoenix location,” said John Ford, general manager for The Westin Phoenix Downtown. “We wanted it to stand out not only among hotel restaurants, but among the thriving food scene in the city.”
Renovations of Province Urban Kitchen and Bar were designed by Fors Architecture out of Tucson and included both structural and aesthetic changes. Among the structural modifications was an expansion of the bar. A full wall of wine racks was moved to open up the space, thereby increasing bar seating from just 10 seats to 27. A new wine cabinet has been installed, creating a 50-person private dining space. Another key enhancement was the installation of sliding glass doors opening up to the restaurant’s patio effectively giving the space an open air capability when weather permits.
Aesthetically, the entire look and feel of it has been refurbished. Dramatically decorated with a mixture of steel and new paint, tile and wall graphics, the restaurant has been given a stylish, modern ambiance. The focal point of the new design is a wall sized graphic depicting downtown Phoenix. The graphic overlays contemporary images of the city like a Valley Metro light rail trail with historic images of state. The piece is accented with bright, pops of marigold, a color that is carried throughout the restaurant.
In addition to the walls, Province Urban Kitchen and Bar has been outfitted with new light fixtures throughout, each marked with oversized shades and cutting-edge design. The furniture has been reupholstered and new carpeting installed, both of which complement the restaurant’s new accent color.
Beyond the décor, the restaurant has and continues to incorporate changes to its menus and bar. With new Executive Chef Marco Garcia, the restaurant recently changed all menus signally a renewed commitment to local products, vendors and growers. Further, the bar has introduced 11 new craft beers on tap that in most instances are either local or regional.
