Now Open: The Joy Bus Diner Serves Up Fresh-Cracked, From-Scratch Favorites All For A Great Cause
At this 100% non-profit restaurant, every delicious meal supports The Joy Bus, a local charity that delivers chef-inspired meals and caring conversations to cancer patients Valley-wide
(Press Release) Now open in Phoenix, The Joy Bus Diner (3375 E. Shea Blvd. Suite C-1; 602-595-5884) is a 100% nonprofit restaurant that's helping make our Valley a tastier, happier place, one meal at a time. Housed inside a warm, welcoming space at the southeast corner of Shea Boulevard and the AZ-51 highway, The Joy Bus Diner boasts hearty, made-to-order breakfast and lunch fare served Tuesday - Sunday, 7am - 2pm. Even better, every cent earned will be used to support The Joy Bus, a local charity that's been bringing chef-inspired meals and caring conversations to cancer patients Valley-wide since 2011.
Best of all, with the opening of The Joy Bus Diner, hungry Valley residents can now support this invaluable charity while also enjoying a gourmet, from-scratch breakfast or lunch. And while every cent raised will go to directly to charity, The Joy Bus Diner's farm-fresh, from-scratch menu means doing good never tasted so good. Think hearty sandwiches such as Patty Melts made with grass-fed beef or Reubens topped with housemade corned beef brisket; and a double-dipped crispy Chicken in a Biscuit. For more breakfasty fare, enjoy Princess Poppyseed Pancakes stuffed with fluffy lemon, served with fresh fruit and choice of sausage or Tender Belly bacon, or Roasted Chile Benedict with AZ-raised filet and "Woods Bread" topped with roasted chile hollandaise.
"I named it 'Woods Bread' because chef Clint Woods of Fox Restaurant Concepts taught me how to bake up this amazing house-made bread," Caraway says. Additional supporters include Porter Barnwood, who donated the beautiful wooden legacy wall as well as produced a video about The Joy Bus featuring interviews with Chris Bianco, Pat McMahon, Sam Fox and more; 100+ Woman Who Care-Valley of the Sun, who donated funds to secure the space; Slab Designs LLC donated the gorgeous countertops; and Nu Age Surface Concepts who created the lovely concrete floor; G4 Builders; and Applied Engineering. Handsomely designed by Swan Architects, at night The Joy Bus Diner will host community events and cooking classes, as well as serve as the dedicated commercial kitchen for The Joy Bus' weekly meal deliveries.
The Joy Bus Diner is now open Tuesday - Sunday from 7am - 2pm at 3375 E. Shea Blvd. Suite C-1, Phoenix, AZ 85028. For more information call 602-595-5884 or visit www.thejoybusdiner.com; www.facebook.com/TheJoyBusOrg/, or on Twitter and Instagram @TheJoyBusOrg.
About The Joy Bus: The Joy Bus is a Not for Profit organization whose sole purpose is to relieve the daily struggles of homebound cancer patients with a fresh Chef Inspired meal and a friendly face. Our vision is to elevate the livelihood of our patrons with the joy of culinary sustenance. Founded in 2011 and named in honor of our dear friend Joy who struggled with the painstaking side-effects of cancer, ultimately losing her life to this horrific disease. Joy suffered from cancer in the 4 "L" s (in Joy's words) "Lungs, Liver, Lymphoids and Loveries". Her drive and determination are inspirational to all those who fight her same battle and if a hot meal and a little compassion can brighten her day then it's the least we can all do as humans and as a part of a community. Millions of cancer patients are left to fend for themselves during this turning point in their lives. The Joy Bus will relieve the burden put on families during this time by providing healthy meals specified to meet our patron's needs. The Joy Bus delivers not only quality meals to your doorstep but compassion and a smiling face.
