Roka Akor Scottsdale Receives Exclusive Kobe Beef Certification
(PRESS RELEASE) – With an unparalleled dining experience and a commitment to serving authentic Japanese cuisine, Roka Akor announced today that it has received official certification to serve Kobe Beef in four of its locations across the United States. The certification, which is granted by the Kobe Beef Marketing and Distribution Association, will elevate Roka Akor’s already impressive menu and allow guests to experience the marbled texture and rich, luxurious flavors for which Kobe Beef is known.
“We are excited and honored to receive this certification as we know that it is only granted to an exclusive group of restaurants,” said Ce Bian, corporate chef for Roka Akor. “We are energized by this certification since it allows us to do what we do best – serve our guests an extraordinary and authentic meal that leaves them feeling inspired. We can’t wait to give Roka Akor customers a taste of a true Japanese delicacy.”
Guests will be able to enjoy Kobe Beef at Roka Akor’s locations in Scottsdale, downtown Chicago, Houston and San Francisco. All Kobe beef will be prepared through Roka Akor’s signature and unique process, which includes cooking the beef over a Mesquite Japanese Robata grill and serving it over a smoky bed of green tea and charcoal.
About Kobe Beef: Kobe Beef is a regional variation of Wagyu, which hails from Hyogo, a Japanese district in the Kansai region of Japan’s main island, Honshu. Its highly recognizable texture and sophisticated flavor makes it one of the world’s most desirable and in-demand meats. Kobe Beef must be bred from a pure lineage of Tajima-Gyu cattle that are born and raised in Hyogo. All meat is assessed and evaluated by the Japan Meat Grading Association, taking into mind several different factors – beef marbling, meat color and brightness, firmness and texture of the meat, and color, luster and quality of the fat. All restaurants that receive certification to serve Kobe Beef must have a 10-digit individual ID on display that tells a cow’s lineage, where it was born and raised and the market where it was sold.
About Roka Akor: Roka Akor brings an unparalleled combination of thoughtful design and contemporary Robata Japanese cuisine to six locations across the U.S., including Scottsdale, San Francisco, Houston, and Chicago, Skokie, IL and Oakbrook, IL. The restaurant’s name is derived from two words: RO and KA. The meaning of the first word is hearth, a gathering place where people socialize and take in the ambience; the latter stands for a burning fire and projecting energy. Managed by JNK Concepts, Roka Akor’s menu changes seasonally, including a rotating selection of prime-cut steaks, seafood, and vegetables with Japanese-inspired marinades and sauces, along with sushi and sashimi. The restaurant’s design features a centrally located robata grill that provides the heart of the visual experience, surrounded by rich wood décor and sleek lighting.
Roka Akor is honored to be on OpenTable’s “100 Best Steakhouses” list featuring honorees that were determined after analyzing more than five million reviews of more than 20,000 restaurants across the country.
