High Street Welcomes Throwback Coffee Bar and Vintage-style Speakeasy
PHOENIX (PRESS RELEASE)— Longtime comedian and entrepreneur Rick Bronson has opened his latest development — The Stir Coffee Bar and Gin & Reel at 5415 East High Street, Suite 103. The coffee-shop-turned-speakeasy is “stirring up” coffee, cocktails and conversation the old-fashioned way — through real, tangible connectivity, fabulous food and beverages, and a unique “old-school” atmosphere.
“The Stir and Gin & Reel is unlike anything in the North Phoenix/North Scottsdale area,” says owner and proprietor Rick Bronson, who also owns Rick Bronson’s House of Comedy on Hight Street. “I take great pride in creating concepts with environments that encourage the spirit of human connection as it once existed and that people long for today.”
The Stir and Gin & Reel is now open, giving guests a new reason to head to High Street for coffee, cocktails and ice cream. Whether craving a cuppa Joe, an inspired nosh, an over-the-top ice cream delight, a creative cocktail or a vintage nightcap, one can have it all here. With this latest concept, Bronson has created an establishment that can instantaneously spark sensations of joy, comfort and nostalgia in every customer from the moment they walk through the door.
Open at 7:00 a.m., The Stir features caffeinated concoctions including both hot and cold boozy brews such as the Kick in the Pants made with cold brew coffee, Mr. Black’s Cold Brew Liqueur, Hamilton 151 Overproof Rum, Mexican Coke and milk; the Siciliano with cold brew coffee, Carpano Antica Sweet Vermouth, Amaro Averna, simple syrup and club soda; the Anatolia Caféwith fresh hot Mezzanote coffee, Hennessy VS Cognac, Luxardo Cherry Liqueur, and simple syrup topped with whipped cream and dusted with cinnamon; and the Coffee Old Fashion with fresh espresso, Templeton Maple Finished rye, Demerara syrup and chocolate bitters.
The coffee shop’s creative cocktail menu features the Affogato Martini with vanilla vodka, Crème de Cacao, and coffee liqueur poured over vanilla ice cream (with seasonal flavor options) and boozy milkshakes including the Irish Coffee Milkshake with vanilla ice cream, Bailey’s Irish Cream, Irish whiskey, coffee liqueur, a shot of espresso and whole milk. At lunchtime, classics such as Grilled Cheese with American, Pepper Jack and Swiss cheeses with thin sliced tomatoes and avocado; the Reuben Sandwich with corned beef, Swiss cheese, coleslaw, and Russian dressing on rye bread; or the Club with turkey, bacon, American cheese, lettuce, tomato, mayonnaise, and butter stacked between three pieces of bread. Sandwiches are served with choice of coleslaw, pasta salad, or bacon and potato salad; chips and a kosher dill pickle.
With its own hidden entrance, the intimate Gin & Reel speakeasy located at the back of The Stir is set to take guests back in time with an unparalleled Old Hollywood vibe including vintage projectors and old school images of red carpet affairs adding to the ambiance, director’s chairs in place of barstools, and throwback black-and-white films on rotation.
Open from 3:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. on weekdays and 3:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m. on weekends, this secret space provides the perfect setting for enjoying prohibition-era sips of the highest caliber.
