Chef Rochelle Daniel to Debut Atria in Flagstaff
Carved inside a stylish space in downtown Flagstaff, enjoy seasonal American fare from chef/partner, Rochelle Daniel of Fat Ox in Scottsdale (formerly of L’Aberge Sedona)
(PRESS RELEASE) – Coming this August to the heart of historic downtown, Atria (www.atriarestaurant.com, 928-440-4377) is Flagstaff’s new home for seasonal, modern American fare handcrafted with farm-fresh, locally-grown ingredients. Housed inside an intimate, airy space at 103 N. Laroux St., the mission at Atria is simple: serve delicious, affordable food that guests will want to return week after week. Think: house-made pastas, fresh fish and premium steaks, plus playful daily features such as a two-fisted fried chicken sandwich. Paired with craft cocktails and an extensive wine list, including rare wines offered by the glass, Atria will be open for light afternoon bar bites, plus full sit-down dinner service, Tuesday through Thursday from 3 to 9 pm and Fridays and Saturdays from 2 to 9 pm.
Nestled inside the former La Vetta Ristorante Italiano space (just north of Aspen Avenue on Laroux Street), Atria is the first standalone restaurant from chef/partner, Rochelle Daniel. Nationally known for her appearances on Food Network’s “Chopped” TV show, and named to the Arizona Culinary Hall of Fame in 2017, she’s currently the executive chef for the award-winning modern Italian restaurant, Fat Ox in Scottsdale, and previously held the same title at Cress on Oak Creek and Etch Kitchen & Bar at L’Auberge de Sedona.
“I’m so excited to bring this personal passion project to Flagstaff,” says chef Daniel. “The entire vibe is elegant yet approachable, with straightforward, recognizable dishes, prepared with the best ingredients selected from local farmers, and crafted with love.”
At Atria, chef Daniel alongside her longtime Chef de Cuisine, Maribel Silva, will be whipping up seasonal, ingredient-driven dishes that highlight the wide variety of farm-fresh foods grown across Northern Arizona. In addition, Atria will also feature fresh fish, oysters and raw crudos, and even imported wagyu steak and Iberian pluma pork. Plus, enjoy light afternoon bar bites and craft cocktails in the lounge featuring house-made syrups and tinctures, as well as an extensive wine list.
Welcoming guests with a warm, airy atmosphere, Atria’s 1,700-sq.-ft., 94-seat dining room is accented with natural oak butcherblock tabletops and striking white-leather seating, plus artfully placed mirrors and greenery and hanging plants enliven this minimalist space. Grab a seat in the full-service lounge featuring a 14-person bar and high-top seating, or reserve the main dining room’s 8-person chef’s table overlooking the gleaming exposition kitchen and watch as the kitchen staff prepares the playful, ever-changing menus.
Led by chef Daniel, Artria is the first of three locally-owned restaurants planned for the NW corner of Laroux and Aspen, including a steakhouse and gastro-pub inside the adjacent 101 N. Laroux Avenue building (formerly home to Maloney’s On Campus). “Our original plan was to start with the steakhouse and the pub and then later open a smaller modern American restaurant,” Rochelle Daniel says. “But post COVID we decided to work backwards and start with the smallest of the three at Atria.”
Atria restaurant is located at 103 N. Leroux St., Flagstaff, AZ 86001. For more information, call 928-440-4377 or visit www.atriarestaurant.com, or follow us on social @atriarestaurant
