Weft & Warp Art Bar + Kitchen Announces Appointment Of Chef Dushyant Singh
The New Delhi native and 15-year culinary veteran brings a global perspective to the menu at Andaz Scottsdale’s restaurant
(PRESS RELEASE) – Weft & Warp Art Bar + Kitchen at Andaz Scottsdale Resort & Bungalows today announces the appointment of Dushyant Singh to executive chef. He brings over 15 years of food, beverage, and hospitality expertise to his new role. Using the seasons as a guide, and inspired by local Sonoran ingredients, Singh aims to strengthen his connections with farmers and purveyors in the Scottsdale area as well as the overarching Arizona community for his menu at Weft & Warp, offering globally influenced dishes.
“I am thrilled to welcome Dushyant to Weft & Warp as he develops his unique and creative viewpoint on the menu,” says Devraj Gorsia, director of operations at Andaz Scottsdale. “He comes to Weft & Warp with a wide array of experience and a unique culinary perspective. I know he will further establish the restaurant’s reputation as a dining destination inspiring extraordinary guest experiences in Scottsdale.”
Born and raised in New Delhi, India, Singh moved to the United States at the age of 19 and started his first job as a banquet cook at the Hyatt Regency in Lexington, Kentucky. This experience led him to formalize his passion, earning a Culinary Arts degree at The Culinary Institute of America Hyde Park. Upon graduation, he rejoined the Hyatt family as a corporate management trainee at Andaz Scottsdale’s sister property Hyatt Regency Scottsdale Resort & Spa at Gainey Ranch.
“I can attribute my success across different environments and roles to my love for food and how it brings people together,” he says. “I enjoy talking with guests and welcoming them into the restaurant. Connecting with people and providing them with great hospitality is just as important as the food we serve on their plate.”
Singh has trained with esteemed properties and teams across the country, including Hotel Palomar Phoenix, The Camby Hotel, Westin Chicago River North, and La Quinta Resort & Club. In summer 2020, he launched Meatwala PHX, a popular home delivery-based business focusing on Indian meats and sides which was featured on the list of the 10 best things the Phoenix New Times food critic ate in 2020. Singh most recently served as the general manager at Fox Restaurant Concepts.
“I manage with my core pillars of creativity, innovation, customer experience, and high team engagement always in mind,” Singh says. “I strive to lead teams through a model of servant leadership and proactively choose to be humble, put my colleagues first, and encourage members to learn and grow.”
When not in the kitchen, Singh’s 7-year-old son, Tej, keeps him busy and they enjoy dining out together. Singh is also a self-proclaimed adventure seeker – he climbed Mt. Kilimanjaro in 2018, and he enjoys working out, climbing, and hiking the mountains.
Weft & Warp guests can look forward to exciting new dishes in the coming months featuring the fresh flavors of the Mediterranean.
