Advanced Sommelier Jason Caballero Joins Wrigley Mansion as Wine Director
Phoenix AZ (PRESS RELEASE) It’s no secret that Geordie’s Restaurant within the historic Wrigley Mansion has one of the finest restaurant wine collections in the country. With more than 96,000 bottles of wine poured each year, and multiple prestigious awards received, Geordie’s is upping its game even further as Advanced Sommelier Jason Caballero joins the team as Wine Director.
Having been in the restaurant world for more than 20 years, Jason earned the title of Advanced Sommelier in 2017 and is now pursuing the Master Sommelier diploma. He is a long-time member of GuildSomm, and this year accepted a seat on its board. Most recently, Jason served as Wine Director for Maple & Ash in Scottsdale, AZ, and as Lead Sommelier at Bourbon Steak by Michael Mina in Scottsdale. He is also co-founder of the Society of Arizona Sommeliers, a group that is dedicated to educating and supporting aspiring sommeliers.
As Wine Director, Jason embraces the opportunity to continue mentoring while building a world-class cellar. “Wrigley Mansion is a unique and stunning property with one of the largest wine programs in the country and a James Beard award-winning chef at Christopher’s,” says Jason. “I’m honored to be a part of it, especially at this time when Arizona is stepping up its dining and beverage scene."
“Jason’s credentials are impressive, and we are excited to have him join Geordie’s to elevate our already impressive wine program,” says Wrigley Mansion General Manager Vinnie Walia. “At the same time, we are equally impressed by his passion for mentoring and educating and we look forward to seeing him pursue this for our staff and guests.”
Positive and personable, Jason enjoys imparting wine knowledge in a fun and approachable way. “When I see lightbulbs go off and watch people start to understand more about wine, it is very rewarding,” says Jason. “A bottle of wine is 750 milliliters; it’s meant to be shared, just like the knowledge about it.”Positive and personable, Jason enjoys imparting wine knowledge in a fun and approachable way. “When I see lightbulbs go off and watch people start to understand more about wine, it is very rewarding,” says Jason. “A bottle of wine is 750 milliliters; it’s meant to be shared, just like the knowledge about it.”
