The Maggiore Group to Debut The Mexicano in North Phoenix
The Italian restaurant group flips the script with its first Mexican concept
(PRESS RELEASE) The Maggiore Group, powerhouse concept creators behind Hash Kitchen, The Sicilian Butcher and The Sicilian Baker are proud to announce their newest masterpiece, The Mexicano. The new concept, spearheaded by Chef Joey Maggiore, is set to open this summer and will be the first Mexican restaurant established from the restaurant group.
“I wanted to explore the art of Mexican cuisine,” chef and restaurant owner Joey Maggiore said. “Like cooking Italian food, I appreciate the culture and tradition behind creating authentic recipes, and this was a project I was very excited to share with my staff and the public because it’s an unexpected passion of mine.”
True to Maggiore style, The Mexicano will feature a menu ranging from $7 to $25 with unique, over-the-top spins on Mexican classics like Lava Rock Fajitas, Pastor and Lamb Tacos on made-to-order blue corn tortillas, Smoking Ceviche and an array of “Machetes” -- four-foot corn masa quesadillas stuffed with oaxaca cheese, green salsa and a choice of braised short ribs, chicken tinga, pastor or zucchini blossoms. The menu aims to keep the traditions of Mexico alive while providing authentic, quality cuisine to all guests.
The cocktail program will be spearheaded by renowned mixologist, Matt Allen and will feature the country’s first build-your-own Michelada bar. This unique experience will include infused tequilas, Mexican draft beer and over 40 toppings to make Michelada dreams come true. The oversized mugs will be dipped in Chajoy and seasoned to perfection, then topped with mouthwatering favorites like sweet and savory oysters, shrimp cocktail, pickled jicama, dry chorizo, tamarindo sticks and habañero cheese. It will also feature an array of Insta Worthy Mexican draft craft cocktails and piñata margaritas.
Designed by Cristina Maggiore, The Mexicano incorporates the vibrancy of Mexico City by boasting one of the largest covered outdoor patios in the state with seating for over 500 guests. The restaurant will exude the energetic vibes made popular by the group’s sister concept, Hash Kitchen, with a fiesta flair that showcases vibrant colors and authentic imported furniture. Weekends will feature sounds by a latin DJ and live Mariachi bands.
The Mexicano is located at 4801 E. Cactus Road, Phoenix, AZ 85032. For more information and updates, visit www.themexicanocomida.com or @themexicanocomida on social media.
