Vintage Partners Debuts "Arrive Phoenix" in 2018
Palm Springs-Based Arrive Hotels Coming To Uptown Phoenix
Vintage Partners (Uptown Plaza) & Venue Projects (The Newton) partner up to transform two midcentury gems into the stylish, boutique Arrive Phoenix
(PRESS RELEASE) Days after being named the Valley's 'hottest intersection' by the Urban Land Institute of Arizona, Vintage Partners, who led the redevelopment efforts at Uptown Plaza, is set to bring another groundbreaking project to Central Ave. & Camelback Rd. Named Arrive Phoenix, this stylish boutique hotel and dining destination will be the third property for the California-based, Arrive Hotels & Restaurants, following the opening of the original Arrive Palm Springs and the upcoming Arrive East Austin now under construction. Located on Camelback just west of The Newton, Vintage Partners has also teamed up with The Newton's developers, Venue Projects (Windsor/Churn and The Orchard) to create the Valley's most exciting, innovative adaptive-reuse project of 2018. Totaling just over 2 acres and 45,000 square feet, this $20M project is expected to be completed in 2018.
Housed inside a pair of architecturally significant yet long-neglected midcentury modern mid-rises located at 400 & 444 W. Camelback Road, Arrive Phoenix will combine both buildings into a singular and striking 79-room property. Arrive Phoenix will also host a boutique coffee shop, a poolside taco bar, a gourmet ice creamery, and a nautical-themed rooftop craft cocktail bar featuring sweeping 360-degree city views.
Seamlessly stitched into the neighboring The Newton project (home to a bookstore/bar, restaurant, event space and more), Arrive Phoenix will transform this trio of restored midcentury gems into Uptown Phoenix's first-ever dining, entertainment and urban hotel hub.
"Much like our previous project at Uptown Plaza, we knew this area and these particular buildings had great potential," says Vintage Partners principal, Walter Crutchfield. "Designed by either Ralph Haver or Fred Guirey, depending on which historic news article you believe, both buildings feature that classic low-slung, yet light and window-lined look that helped put Phoenix on the architectural map in postwar America. So we knew we needed to put together a dream team to create a truly standout development."
Enter the fellow adaptive reuse gurus at Venue Projects, who helped launch the rebirth of Uptown Phoenix nearly 10 years ago when they transformed a run-down 1940s strip mall into the home of Windsor and Churn. "We've had our eye on these amazing buildings for years, and really consider this the culmination of all of our adaptive reuse projects here in the Valley," says Lorenzo Perez, co-founder of Venue Projects with John Kitchell. "We're going to use all the salvage solutions and hard-earned restoration techniques we've learned over the years to craft a world-class project that's embraced by locals and visitors alike"
Much like the original Arrive in Palm Springs, Arrive Phoenix will offer a stylish setting brimming with unique amenities such as the signature lobby-less check-in, with guests checking in at the bar area. "Our guests don't want that chain hotel feel," says Ezra Callahan, one of Arrive's founders. "We build neighborhood hotels that are aimed at the local community - a social landmark. You want to go to the place where the locals are, to get that experience."
