Super Chunk Sweets and Treats is a cafe, bakery, and sweet shop run by Pastry Chef Country Velador and her husband Sergio. At this cozy shop in Old Town Scottsdale, you'll find made-from-scratch indulgences including cookies, candies, cakes, ice cream and more. Delicious sandwiches on housebaked bread can be ordered, and shelves display treats such as caramel corn, toffee, and candy bars.

My first introduction to these pastry delights was Country's sublime recreation of the famous Courtesan au Chocolat from the film The Grand Budapest Hotel. Needless to say, I became an immediate fan.

Since then, I've returned time and again to work my way through the savory and sweet choices at Super Chunk. See the desserts for yourself this weekend when the Cooking Channel airs an episode of Unique Treats entitled “Sweet Imagination,” on Sunday, January 22. Two signature desserts are featured, including the fantastic "John and Yoko" with decadent tres leches-soaked honey cake layered with mascarpone, cinnamon, and honeycomb (my photo from the 2016 Cooks & Corks Festival).
