Rock the Guac: Richard Hinojosa
On September 16th, the founders of the Arizona Taco Festival are celebrating National Guacamole Day with a special pre-festival event called ROCK THE GUAC! Twenty of the Valley's top chefs will be battling it out to take home the title of best guacamole and bragging rights. No secrets will be given away, but in the days leading up to this culinary competition, some of these renowned chefs will share some hints. (Previous Chefs)
Chef Richard Hinojosa, formerly of the Wigwam and Mary Elaine's, will be parlaying his culinary talents including Arizona Taco Festival wins into his new spot, CRUjiente Tacos, opening this fall. Look for bold flavors in redefined tacos that use the highest-quality ingredients and culinary techniques acquired during Chef Hinojosa's travels and experiences all over the country. Expect thoughtfully-created tacos that aspire to be more than simple, humble street food.
